The Catharsis of Counting…

The glistening, underworld traveler, guide of souls, planet of Mercury, went Retrograde on October 13th. Causing his normal frustrations, communication snafu’s, errors in perception, and urges to edit or revisit key areas of our everyday life. His trickster energy during retrograde helped fuel false perceptions appearing real, cosmic illusions, and put the regalia of boastful pageantry center stage. But now, Mercury has slowed to station direct on November 3rd, election day. In this phase of the Mercury cycle, the young Mercury is full of idealism, newness, and optimistic hope for the future. Eager to get to work on what he seeded in his journey behind the lights. Mercury governs logistics and the function of tabulating and counting. With Mercury stationing today, it will take him a few days to pick up steam and begin to pick up momentum again later this week.

He began retrograde in Scorpio but has travelled all the way back into neutral, fair, and balanced Libra. And he begins his revolution process here at 25 degrees. He ingressed into Libra at the same time Venus did. Venus rules Libra so her influence of love, beauty, sweetness, and compassion will impact all of Mercury’s activity. He is also in a superior square, overcoming Saturn. Saturn’s spell has cast a wide net over most of this year. With this square, where there has been rigidity and obstacles, where points of view have become entrenched, Mercury can win the day by presenting us with an alternative to something we feel we’ve been saddled with. He offers diplomacy, harmony, and is the troubadour that heralds completion, and key resolution. Coupled with Saturn he brings dignity, fairness, seriousness, and accuracy to all Mercury is undertaking. It’s really important that we meet this moment with open hands. Perseverance can spurn spiritual maturity by demonstrating patience and character. By leaning into the constriction and discomfort, we evolve.

“True goodness is like water;

it nurtures everything and harms nothing.

Like water, it ever seeks the lowest place,

the place that all others avoid” -The Tao

These are some of the key transits for this election week. We will feel the influence of Mercury’s slow sticky pace over the next few days. Have patience. Counting is underway and as Mercury picks up steam, we will begin to see real results of these Mercury/Venus, and Mercury/Saturn influences over the first seven days of the month. Stay tuned as we post more key influences for this monumental month over the coming days. It is a month jam packed with the Astrology of catharsis. karmic leveling, and resolution.

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
