Not in Kansas Anymore…

Dorothy wanted to click her heals and to get “back home” or” back to normal”. I think we need to allow the storm to take us to Oz.

When Mars squares Saturn, it can really amp up our protective, & defensive centers. All of our survival instincts come forward while creativity, and imagination, the things that literally enable us to add meaning and context to our lives, are pushed underground as unneeded resources. The lead claws of Saturn feel like they reach up and bind us to the day to day grind. All gravity and thick, dense matter, Saturn pulls all fanciful, unnecessary desires towards it, and constricts their expression.

Recently I was listening to a podcast where they were discussing imagination as the single greatest untapped resource available to us today. Did you know that it is our imaginal realms that creates the rooted feeling in our lives? I had never REALLY thought about that before. Imagine going to work and helping people in your job. Without being able to imagine the impact you are having on their lives, this work may feel purely mechanical. Our own morals and values are a function of us imagining the world we want to live in. Our resources, and ingenuity, are all creative forces. For the last several weeks with Mars in Retrograde we have been sitting in this souless portal.

Right now we have Jupiter and the Moon, in a tighter orb, (squaring Mars exactly) allowing these  more expansive imprints become activated. Mars invites us to bypass our conditioning. Coupled with Jupiter it has the profound ability to catalyze things that have long lived in our “dreams”.  We can unlock multiple doors to perception, and begin to cultivate our personal pandemic ethos.  This pairing allows us to really see the dragons we are being asked to slay. Allowing the arcane to come into focus. Inviting us to see the poetry behind the seeming chaos.

If you desire to work with these influences, I recommend that you spend time over the next few days allowing Mars to spark the embers of your passion & desire, give permission to Jupiter to expand your range of experience. Coupled with the moon, this is an optimal time for processing and integration providing access to the liminal spaces, removing the grind of Saturn’s gears, we become part of the “all”. We are all living in a brand new reality. Nothing is ever going to be exactly the same. We have the opportunity to invigorate and edit our stories right now. The pandemic has instigated loss for so many of us. Acceptance is the stage of grief that bridges the old and the new.  Nothing can truly be born out of that which has been dissolved until we accept that the old way has slipped away. Jupiter is a gatekeeper to an innovative, more resourced future. He is also the threshold between our 3-D reality self, that wakes and sleeps, and our higher eternal self. The one that exists across timelines and dimensions. Free write, candle gaze, get out in nature, turn off your devices. All of these things can help you unlock the doors to Oz.

Damascena Tanis

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
