A Change of “Age”. Two Towers Addition

On our Venus Journey, we have just moved into the Sacral Chakra Gate of Descent.

This Gate is Ruled by Jupiter, Neptune, Sagittarius, and Pisces. And the Wheel of Fortune, Temperance, and Moon Cards in the Tarot.

I want to pull some of our Alchemical Symbolism out here, and have a discussion around the current themes we see playing out in the world. But first a little background.

When astrologers talk about “Ages”, we are referencing something called the Progression of the Equinoxes. You may have heard the term “Age of Aquarius”.

The progression of the equinoxes basically tracks which constellation is against the horizon on the day of the Spring Equinox. It gets a little more involved mathematically, but I don’t want to lose you in the weeds here. For the purpose of this conversation, the important thing to know is that the progression essentially moves backwards. So we are currently in the Age of Pisces, making the transition into Aquarius. Ages are roughly 2100 years.

Because they are so long, the transition period happens over the course of 100 years or more.

We can track ages throughout history…

Age of Taurus

4300 BCE- 2150 BCE

Invention of writing, the Bronze Age and the rise of its associated civilizations, such as Sumer, Ancient Egypt, and the Indus Valley civilization, near-Eastern bull cults

Age of Aries

2150 BCE-1 CE

The Akkadian Empire, the Vedic period in India, onset of the Iron Age, Ancient Greece, Phoenician Empire, Ancient Israel, classical antiquity The Ram and shofar.

Age of Pisces

1 CE-2150 CE

Rise of the Roman Empire, Christianity (symbolized early on as the ichthys), the two fish, and Islam

Age of Aquarius

2150 CE-4300

Predicted to feature humanitarianism and innovations in communication and travel

As we’ve discussed before, when an Age or an “energy” is on its way out, it tends to make last stand.

So let’s turn our attention to the energy of Pisces, and The Cards of the Tarot listed above…

The Moon Card (Pisces) is characterized by the activity of spirit in psychological and material life, (which we can see with authentic Christianity, which sought to establish and internal, one on one relationship with spirit), foresight, organization, individual regeneration through awareness of the body, and ritual. In a negative sense, it means “misleading through imagination”, and erroneous ritual.

In the Tarot, which moves successively forward, Aquarius and the Star Card ‘which heralds a bright new day, a new dawn, comes BEFORE Pisces.

The Moon card indicates a return to earlier events. In the card, two towers seem to stand guard at some invisible threshold warding off prowling evil that makes the hounds bark. In the foreground, lurking in the water, a ten legged shelled crayfish (evoking Cancer, the Deep Emotional Body).

“The image seems to represent a Charybdis-and-Scylla double bind: the dangerous regressive aspect of the ten spoked Wheel of Fortune card, which tracks the rise and fall of Furtuna’s Wheel, and the peril lurking between or beyond the two ominous towers in the foreground” - Irene Gad

This feels hugely symbolic to me regarding the moment we are in. “Misleading through imagination”. Erroneous Ritual? A return to earlier events? And the Peril lurking between the two ominous towers”.

It feels to me at this moment we are stuck in a “Two Tower” narrative. Not really able to move beyond how it’s crystallized within us, and sheparded geo-political moves for the last two decades. Threatening the Fall of Fortune if we fail to evolve.

The Moon Card (which represents Pisces) is card 18. Eighteen is an astral cycle number that relates to the Eclipse Cycle. Eclipses themselves are involved with evolution. It seems to be saying "Evolve or Die".

In the collective, along the periphery, we are hearing all of the Aquarian words speaking back to this old pattern. Talking about the need to write new stories. And yelling out about various humanitarian concerns. (this is inevitable because the energy is flowing this way)

The Moon card seems to evoke the theme of an “evil abyss scheming all around us”. To the ancient’s any kind of chaos, or lack of order elicited a fear of evil. The motif of “evil” has been used all throughout the previous age as way to manipulate us. This isn’t to say that evil isn’t real. Rather that we need to use our discernment around what evil we are truly facing. And if the subject of evil is being called forth to elicit us to conform to regressive narratives.

We are indeed on a threshold. All of us. Between the Ages. All who incarnated now are on the transition team. As the Wheel Turns, It is up to us which of Fortuna’s spokes we grab onto? Are we moving into a timeline that is evolving? Are we up to the task of authoring new stories? Or are we staying with the old timeline that is taking us to familiar places?

The Temperance card represents transformation, and regeneration. The generative alchemy inherent in creating something new. Something never before seen. In the card’s symbolism, we see a figure holding two chalices. He/She is pouring liquid from the bottom cup, and it is traveling against gravity in an upwards stream to fill a cup held above. Often there is a rainbow pictured in the card. (forget, for a moment, our cultural cognition of rainbows)

Across the annals of time, the rainbow has been a symbol of hope, promises, and the miraculous union of heaven and earth. But what many may not realize is that the rainbow also holds profound alchemical significance, serving as a metaphor for the journey of transformation, both of substance and of spirit.

This seems to be saying that the future is up to each of us. We have to choose. So much of what we think and believe, shapes our reality. And we need to write new stories in order to evolve. What Aquarian outcome can you envision? What miraculous quantum leap can you envision without attachment? What Piscean themes can you identify, and are ready to let go of now?

Generative creation is of course, governed by the Sacral Chakra. Birthing something new, something manifest… and staying in motion all part of our Sacral Chakra mandate this month. 😉
