Astrology & The Mystery of Incarnation

THE MYSTERY OF INCARNATION

I have spent my entire life probing the mystery of incarnation.

The way I came into the world set me up to ask some very specific existential questions.

One thing that I’ve come to discover through living the question, “why are we here?”, is that the saying “we are human beings having a spiritual experience” is a kind of inversion.

When in fact, We are spiritual beings, having a human experience.

You see, Spirituality is our natural state. When we are feeling “spiritual”, we are remembering. Our search for spirit, is inherently a search for home. For reunion.

We come from beyond the veils, from the light, from pure consciousness, and it is too that place we will return.

We are not here to ascend beyond the 3-D realm. To live only in states of transcendental bliss.

It doesn’t mean we can’t access those things, but that’s definitely not the purpose of incarnation.

If we spend our life in that orientation, we will have spent this incarnation in the pursuit of being dead. Gunning to obtain life beyond the veil.

No, we came here to descend into our body.

The Mystery of incarnation, our purpose here, is around how human we can be.

How alive. How authentic?

We are here to touch and be at ease with the essence of who we are.

To tap into and cultivate the current of Evolutionary Eros that wants to live through us.

The question at the heart of the mystery of incarnation is; how do we attune to our vessel so that the fullest expression of our soul can be animated through us?

In order to do that we have get out of our own way. Throw off the chains of our indoctrination, both spiritual and cultural. And allow the seed we were sent here to sow, take root and fully blossom.

It is a messy journey, full of paradox, and entangled ecosystems.

It takes cultivating discernment around everything, every thought, every belief, that is “not self”.

And we are asked to stay awake, open, and human, through it all.

To live fully, to find the sacred in the mundane. In the everyday ordinary.

Then, at the end, we are asked to take our hard won wisdom, the diversity of our experience, back to our ancestral soul family, where we learn from it together, and prepare for our next incarnation.

Can you imagine taking back a spiritual seed? They’d say “thanks, but we already know that. What we don’t know, is how it felt to be human, and experience xyz. That’s why we sent you.”

———-

This cycle between worlds, this ascent beyond the veils, and descent into a body is the macrocosm of soul refinement.

From a microscopic level, we mimic it here in the body. And it does work to refine our human, incarnate self. The soul we have in this lifetime.

Like Nesting Dolls, the human, embodied, mythological ascendant/descent death/rebirth journey, is a mirror of a larger cycle. It’s how we juice this particular incarnation for every last drop.

Then we do it on a larger scale, as we cycle between worlds. Between lives.

To the oversoul and back again.

In a nutshell this is the process of personal & collective evolution.

Evolution is a blueprint or spirit inhabiting form.

Astrology is all about probing the mystery of our incarnation. It helps us to make distinctions about how the Universe wants to live through us, here in this lifetime.

Damascena Tanis

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
