Forces of Evolution

My Medicine

Universal Law has always turned me on. From the time I was little, my father nick-named me the "Betty Davis, The Great Cosmic Detective". (Betty Davis for how expressive I was when presenting my hypothesis) I was always more entranced with the Book of Revelation than my own scriptures. By the time I was 11, one could find me in the occult section of the Library, or snuggled up with a book by Jung. I wanted to know what it all meant, and understand deeply what made people tick. These alternative ‘scriptures” spoke my language. They seemed to be the only thing that could help me make sense of "the why" behind my mysterious beginnings.

I have spent my whole life living into this work. Cultivating this medicine. Taking what I understood from the books, and tweaking it with my own sight. My own gnosis.

I can see how each thing I’ve been faced with, each unsolvable puzzle, has forced me to examine the deeper thing underneath. Following the cosmic thread, that seemed to invisibly connect one event to another. A Universal “why”.

In some ways, it feels a bit like I’m offering pre-life 101 material.

The things that help us understand what make an incarnation meaningful.

Through my work with hundreds of clients, it has become clear to me that the contracts we have when we come in aren’t specific to events. We don’t ask to be hurt or challenged in specific ways. Neither do we request specific blessings.

No, the contracts we make are archetypal. We choose to work with specific archetypal patterns, and pairings.  How the contracts materialize on a mundane level, lives more in the realm of where the forces of fate and free will meet. The character and nuance of how a contract plays out in the 3-D realm is more personal, artistic, organic, and random, inside the incarnation, then anything we can decide pre-incarnation. In other words, no, we did not asked to be victimized, abused, or tortured in a specific way by a specific person. However, from a holographic perspective, we did agree to spend some part of our incarnation working with a certain flavor of darkness.

For instance, one might choose a particular flavor of Saturn in their incarnation. Because their evolution calls for learning to relate to limitation, authority, structure, time, contraction, compression, & firm foundations. How to conserve instead of bleed out. Perhaps they spent their last incarnation as a hedonist, or with great privilege, and power. Which served their needs perfectly in that incarnation. However in this incarnation…
-The soul calls in this Saturnine contract because it serves in both our personal and collective evolution for these particular patterns to be embodied by this particular person, at this particular time, in this particular place, because it affects this particular group, in this particular space. (it’s ok if you didn’t get that the first time through)

In my Body of Work, or my Cosmology; There are a few evolutionary forces that underlie incarnation.

Cosmic. Which is the bigger, collective field. The big game we are all here playing. How all the parts of the big game intersect. It’s the holographic web of creation. Indra’s Net if you will.  This is our point of connection to the “All”, to the Universe, and the “All’s” connection to us. It can never be separate. The root of non-dual, unity, teaching comes from the Cosmic.

Karmic. Which drives the template. It determines the “why” behind our particular curriculum in this incarnation.  I speak with my clients and students in depth about this topic during sessions. (There isn’t a way to succinctly capture what “Karma” means here. Though it’s a worthy pebble to put in one's shoe. Especially if they’d like to get on the big playing field in this incarnation.)

Archetypal. These are the pattern fluctuations that run throughout all levels of the game. The drivers of the evolutionary bus. Spanning from the macro to the micro. They fill in the “what” and the “how”. They are the overview, broad scale, characters on both the personal and collective stage. The sage’s that show up on our personal syllabus to drive our personal evolution forward. By following our personal evolutionary arch in this incarnation, we help to evolve the collective.

It simply does not matter if one is aware, conscious, or awake to the background machinery (drivers of evolution) or not, it is always active. If you are alive, and incarnate, these forces are at work in your life.

Every single ensouled being has a mission, purpose, and intention inside of their incarnation. Period.

Why is this important? If we aren’t firmly rooted in our own mission, purpose, and intention, it is easy to be infiltrated and highjacked by someone else’s. By an agenda that isn’t ours.

My medicine, my work in this world is to explore these facets with you. So you feel more rooted and grounded in your very incarnation. Why you are here, what archetypal elements are asking to be explored and embodied. And at which times. There are specific crossroads in our lives in which we simply cannot move forward with allying with our archetypes.  Or places in our lives where we've been absolutely possessed by archetypal forces, and we need to let them go.

While I am a huge proponent of being firmly rooted in our human life, and our emotional body, I have found great comfort balancing out some of the things that happen in my 3-D world, with the bigger Cosmic Picture. Like all things in our world, our incarnation is also stretched across a great polarity. The Spiritual and the Mundane. In no way is any of my work meant to take us out of our body, or to aid us in escaping our incarnation. Rather, it is in service to rooting us more deeply into our lives, giving us more confidence, and purpose around what we are really up to while we are here. Grasping the bigger picture can be a profound anchor for people who feel called to this work. Helping us leave behind the small dramas that vie for our attention. Giving us the opportunity to focus on the elements that really matter.

In coming back from bereavement leave, it is more clear to me than ever, that I only want to be engaged in work that lights me up. That feels generative to me and is a contribution to the overall evolution of the planet in the way my own contracts and agreements have asked me to step forward.

As an adoptee, who’s beginnings were steeped in both mystery and loss, I am devoted to helping my clients and students both access inner gnosis about their incarnation, and to feel excited about being here, to be lit up with their own mission, purpose, and intention, in the big game we are all playing.

My own medicine, and the thing that lights me up most in all of my work is to help my clients stay engaged with the evolutionary forces of their life, and integrate them.

Damascena Tanis

Damascena is an Archetypal Astrologer, Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner, and The Facilitator of the Transformative Journey through the Mandala of Venus’ Wisdom, called “Sky Dancer”.

She is a passionate devotee of the ever unfolding mystery. As an expert observer, a trait she developed as an only child, she regards herself as both a student of life, and decoder of the cosmos.

Skilled at recognizing invisible patterns, and picking up on subtle shifts in the collective, she gets a thrill from uncovering and revealing the hidden threads that are woven together to create our paradigm.

Her passion for this existential detective work aligns well with her unique approach to one on one client work, as she helps others to discover the building blocks of their archetypal blueprint, and mythic overtones. She does not believe that astrology is static, and therefore works with clients to develop strategies and practices that allow them to transcend challenging aspects of their natal chart.

She lives on the Shores of Lake Erie with her husband, four kids, and Cat, Oscar (the grouch).

These days, when she isn’t interpreting a natal chart, or translating the stars for her astrology blog, you can find her engaging in one of her favorite pandemic pastimes, unraveling her inner “good girl”, cultivating the ability to thrive in the deep, dark, unknown, or playing her favorite game of identifying fun paradoxes called “two things are true at once”.
